Amazon Image Requirements 2026: The Spec Sheet That Avoids Rejections

Visuals · 7 min read

Your images do the selling before your copy gets read. Get the spec wrong and Amazon rejects the upload — or worse, suppresses the listing for a non-compliant hero image. Here's the spec sheet that actually matters in 2026.

Main image — the non-negotiable rule

Pure white background (RGB 255,255,255), product filling at least 85% of the frame, no text, no badges, no lifestyle. This is the one image shown in search results, so it must be a clean studio shot — not a render, not an illustration.

Common rejection: adding "SALE" or a price stamp to the main image. Promo text belongs in PPC or A+ content, never on the hero.

Secondary images — show, don't tell

Images 2–7 are where you sell. A reliable set:

2. Context-of-use lifestyle shot
3. Infographic of top features (icons + short labels)
4. Size/dimension chart
5. Material or close-up detail
6. Variants (color/size grid)
7. "What's in the box" / guarantee

Infographic layout that converts

Keep text to 3–5 words per callout. Use a consistent icon style. Amazon reads infographics as content, not claims — so avoid medical or absolute language here too. A clean 1000×1000px tile with 4 benefit blocks outperforms a wordy poster.

A+ content dimensions

If you're brand-registered, A+ modules run at 970×600 (standard) and 970×1300 (banner). Keep the first module above the fold a single hero message — don't lead with a wall of specs.

The 2026 mistake we see most

Sellers generate the hero image with AI instead of a real photo. Amazon's policy expects a genuine product photograph for the main image; AI-rendered heroes get flagged. Use real photos for the hero, and reserve generated visuals for A+ or ads where the rules are looser.
